T1R Crank and Drive Pulleys

T1R lightweight pulleys for Honda S2000

The reduction of rotational mass can help an engine accelerate much more quickly. This becomes more apparent when the reduced mass is further away from the center. This is why adding large heavy rims to your car actually makes it slower! In this case, you're not only adding weight, but also weight further away from the rotation point.

In order to reduce some of the rotational mass from the drivetrain in my 2001 Honda, I decided to purchase the T1R Crankshaft Pulley and 4pc Drive Pulley set.

OEM Crankshaft Pulley (1986g) vs T1R (739g)

Here I have gathered some data on the weights of the T1R and Honda OEM pulleys. It is difficult to estimate how much horsepower it will actually free (though I will try), as there probably isn't much. However, most gains should be in terms of engine response. We'll just have to wait for the results.

Water pump: 521g (OEM) vs a much lighter 202g.

323g vs 161g.

#3: 420g vs 202g.

#4: 315g vs 124g.

  1. Have you dyno tested the car after the install?

  2. I'm interested in seeing how long that water pump pulley lasts. Aftermarket ones have a bad habit of cracking.
